TicketSwap respects your privacy. We comply with the Dutch Data Protection Act (Algemene verordening gegevensbescherming), the Dutch Telecommunications Act (Telecommunicatiewet) and the European General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). In this Privacy Statement you will learn what kind of personal data we collect and how we store, protect and use your personal data. Furthermore, you will understand for which purposes we will use your personal data and with whom your data will be shared.

This Privacy Statement applies to your use of the "Websites" (related websites such as,,,,,,,,, and the mobile application "Apps" offered under the name TicketSwap, and all products and services that we offer you via our Websites and Apps.

Your privacy is important to us, and so is being transparent about how we collect, use, and share information about you. This statement is intended to help you understand:

Your consent

TicketSwap will not collect, use or disclose your personal data without your consent. Therefore, we ask you to agree to this Privacy Statement before you can use our Websites or Apps.

1. What information we collect about you

Your personal data may be collected in several ways, for example when you visit our Websites, register on our Websites, buy or sell a ticket, subscribe to the newsletter, fill out a form, contact us or use our services.

We will ask you to create an account using an email address and password or login with one of your social media accounts (e.g. Facebook or Twitter). In addition, you may be asked to add other personal information (e.g phone number).

By interacting (visiting website, buying and/or selling tickets, etc.) with our website we collect additional data which is considered to be personal. In this Privacy Statement, your "personal data" means information or pieces of information that could allow you to be identified. At TicketSwap we collect the following personal data:

Data retention

Our policy is to only store and process personal data that is is essential in providing you with the best service possible. We do not store or process personal data we don’t use. Our data retention policy can be split between active (based on date of last login) and inactive users.

For active users we store essential personal data (used to identify your location for VAT purposes) for 10 years after the last transaction you made to comply with tax requirements. We use ip address, Facebook country, IBAN country and country given in your profile as measures to locate you. For inactive users and information relating to active users (considered to be non-essential for tax purposes) we store your information for 5 years after your last login.

2. How we use information we collect?

We use and process the personal data you have provided us with for the purposes described below.

Facebook data

We use your Facebook ID, avatar, name, Facebook email address and friends and your residence to complete your account. These "Facebook data" will be shown on our Websites and mobile apps when you sell tickets to make the selling and buying of second hand tickets safer for (potential) buyers. We further use Facebook IDs for marketing purposes, which is described further in this privacy policy.

You have the option of removing your Facebook profile from your TicketSwap account, which by doing so removes your Facebook ID. We will keep your avatar, name, (number of) friends, email address and residence as part of your profile with us.

Twitter data

When you connect your Twitter account, we collect your Twitter ID, username, name, location, followers count, friends count, number of status updates protected yes/no, verified yes/no and account creation date.

Phone number

We check your phone number whether it belongs to you and check whether it is real. When you sell tickets, the verification of your phone number (and not the phone number itself) will be shown on our Websites to make the selling and buying of second hand tickets safer for (potential) buyers. Your phone number is also a mean for us to contact you in case we have to urgently reach you.

Secure Swap

If you make use of our “Secure Swap” service as a buyer, we will share your email address and name to the ticket provider. The ticket provider re-issues the second-hand ticket and provides you with a new authentic ticket. For more information on Secure Swap see this page.

Email address

We use your email address to send you information and updates about your transaction(s). We may also send you information about topics that might be interesting for you through a newsletter. You can unsubscribe from our newsletters at any time.

Electronic location

We use the data about your browser language, your IP address and geolocation in order to communicate with you in a language you speak and to show you content that relates to the country you reside in.


In case of fraud, we will share your personal data with the victim in order to allow this person to file a report with the police. We will not share more data than necessary for the report, and we will notify you in advance when we are about to share your data for this purpose. In addition, when we are contacted by your bank or credit card company for the suspicion of fraud we will cooperate and share essential personal data to help them prevent fraud and money laundering.

3. How we share information we collect

In order to render our services, there is data that we will need to share with third-party service providers. These third parties act as Data Processor within the meaning of the relevant privacy legislation. As Data Controller within the meaning of the relevant privacy legislation, the data processing still takes place under our responsibility. By means of Data Processing Agreements, we contractually obligate all the Data Processors we work with, not to process the data for any other purpose than as instructed by us.

In particular, we want to inform you about the following third party services:

By using our Secure Swap service (which you can recognize by the SecureSwap logo), your email address and name is shared with the ticket provider (e.g. Paylogic). These third parties are contractually obliged to not use your data for any other purpose than providing the buyer with a new ticket, cancelling the old ticket or contacting the buyer with relevant info about the event.

For payments made via our websites, we use third-party services such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors. These third parties are contractually obliged not to use said data for any other purpose than to effectuate the payment. These third parties share your bank account holder name and tokenized payment details with us.

For marketing, we make use of third parties. We use these third parties to provide you and potential new users with relevant advertisements. We use the services of third by (i) excluding existing TicketSwap users from our acquisition campaigns, (ii) retarget existing users and (iii) create similar audiences based on TicketSwap users.

For mass messaging we use third parties to send out text messages and emails to verify your account, to notify on completed transactions, to send newsletters and support related matters.

We use tools for sending out emails and text messages, which are further elaborated in the list of third parties.

Your personal information is stored by highly secured third party cloud storage on servers located in the European Union. Access to this data is secured with the latest available security tools and limited to authorized employees. Some of your personal information is stored at third parties in the United States, which is discussed under 5.

We may share generic aggregated data with our business partners and trusted affiliates. In such case the data will be fully anonymized.

Please note that TicketSwap does not sell, trade, or rent personal data to third parties.

4. How we store and secure information we collect

We work hard to protect your personal data from unauthorized or unlawful access, alteration, disclosure, use or destruction. We encrypt all traffic using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). In addition, we use appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices.

5. How we transfer information we collect internationally

We collect information globally and primarily store that information in Ireland and the Netherlands. We transfer, process and store your information outside of your country of residence, to wherever we or our third-party service providers operate for the purpose of providing you the Services. Whenever we transfer your information, we take steps to protect it.

Some of the third parties described in this Privacy Statement, which provide services to us under contract, are based in other countries that may not have equivalent privacy and data protection laws to the country in which you reside. When we share information of customers in the European Economic Area or Switzerland, we make use of the EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield Frameworks, European Commission-approved standard contractual data protection clauses, binding corporate rules for transfers to data processors, or other appropriate legal mechanisms to safeguard the transfer.

7.1 Cookies

We may use cookies to enhance your experience when you use our Websites. A cookie is a small text file, containing a string of characters that can be placed on your device when you visit a website. This text file uniquely identifies your browser or device. When you visit our Websites again, the cookie allows our Websites to recognize your browser or device. Technical cookies: these are cookies that are essential for the operation of our Websites, these enable you to move around our Websites and use our features.

Analytical/statistical cookies: we use these cookies to track visitor statistics and behaviour. We use these statistics to continuously improve the Websites, marketing channels, mailings, and thus offer you relevant content. These cookies also allow us to recognize and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors navigate when they’re using our Websites. This helps us to improve user navigation and ensure users to find what they need more easily.

Tracking cookies: these cookies monitor clicking behaviour and surfing habits. By means of these cookies we can see whether and when you view your profile, and whether you click through to our websites.

7.2 Are you sixteen years or younger?

If you are sixteen years or younger, you are not allowed to register your profile on our website based on stringent parental consent requirements from the General Data Protection Regulation. If you want to register on our website you have to obtain permission from your parents or legal guardian to use our Websites and Apps.

7.3 Third party websites

You may find advertising or other content on our Websites that links to the websites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors and other third parties. We do not control the content or links that appear on these websites and are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our Websites. In addition these websites or services, including their content and links, may be constantly changing. These websites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service policies. Browsing and interaction on any other website, including websites that are linked to our Websites, are subject to the terms and policies of that website.

7.4 Giving access to your mailbox on the Apps

When you create a listing in our Apps, you have the option to give us access to your mailbox to search for tickets to sell. You give us access by logging in to your Gmail or Outlook (incl. Hotmail and Live), after which we receive a unique access token from Google/Microsoft. We do not store any information from your mailbox nor access your mailbox other than when you are selecting your tickets to sell.

7.5 Modifications to this Privacy Statement

We can update our Privacy Statement from time to time. When we change this Privacy Statement in a significant way, we will post a notification on our Websites and Apps along with the updated Privacy Statement. We may also notify before using our services that our Privacy Statement has been updated. You need to agree to the updated privacy statement before you can continue to use our websites and App.

List of third parties



In performing its services, Stripe acts as a Data Processor for TicketSwap. As a payment services provider, Stripe however also has its own obligations with regard to your personal data. Stripe can therefore also be regarded as a Data Controller with regard to your personal data. For any data processing operations Stripe performs as a data controller, Stripe’s privacy policy applies.

When processing payments or payouts we may use Stripe to process payments made to us and to other users. In such event your payment information will be transmitted to Stripe via an encrypted connection. Stripe uses and processes your payment information, such as bank account number in accordance with Stripe’s privacy policy. We only store tokenized data in connection with the processing of payments (incl. last 4 digits credit card number) ourselves.

Mollie - only for EUR payments

In performing its services, Mollie acts as a Data Processor for TicketSwap. As a payment services provider, Mollie however also has own obligations with regard to your personal data. Mollie can therefore also be regarded as a Data Controller with regard to your personal data. For any data processing operations Mollie performs as a data controller, Mollie’s privacy policy applies.

Przelewy24 (“P24”) - only for PLN payments

In performing its services, P24 acts as a Data Processor for TicketSwap. As a payment services provider, P24 however also has own obligations with regard to your personal data. P24 can therefore also be regarded as a Data Controller with regard to your personal data. For any data processing operations P24 performs as a data controller, P24 privacy policy applies.



For Facebook we use the services of Facebook Custom Audiences, see Facebook Business for more information. This means that the Facebook Data you shared with us, will be sent (back) to Facebook in a hashed format. In this respect, Facebook acts as a third party service provider and as a Data Processor. Facebook is contractually obliged not to use said data for any other purpose than to render its audience targeting services. See here for the relevant terms.

Google AdWords

Google AdWords is an online advertising service developed by Google Inc. (“Google”) where advertisers pay to display brief advertising copy, product listings, and video content within the Google ad network to web users (Google Display Network, Google Search, YouTube etc.). For example, you may see certain ads on this website, mobile placements or other websites because we contract with Google and other similar companies to target our ads based on information we or they have collected, including information that was collected through automated means (such as cookies). These companies also use automated technologies to collect information when you click on our ads, which helps track and manage the effectiveness of our marketing efforts (such as: re-marketing/re-targeting purposes). You may opt out of the automated collection of information by third-party ad networks for the purpose of delivering advertisements tailored to your interests. Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google. Google utilizes the Data collected to track and examine the use of this Application, to prepare reports on its activities and share them with other Google services. Google may use the Data collected to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network. Personal Data collected are cookies and usage data. See here for the details.


Google Analytics for Firebase or Firebase Analytics is an analytics service provided by Google. In order to understand Google's use of Data, consult Google's partner policy. Firebase Analytics may share Data with other tools provided by Firebase, such as Crash Reporting, Authentication, Remote Config or Notifications. This application uses identifiers for mobile devices (including Android Advertising ID or Advertising Identifier for iOS, respectively) and technologies similar to cookies to run the Firebase Analytics service.

Users may opt-out of certain Firebase features through applicable device settings, such as the device advertising settings for mobile phones or by following the instructions in other Firebase related sections of this privacy policy, if available. Personal Data collected: cookies, unique device identifiers for advertising (Google Advertiser ID or IDFA, for example) and usage data. See here for the details. Moreover; We’re also using Firebase for Push Messages. We send notification messages to drive user re-engagement and retention to our mobile apps.


Segment is one place to collect customer data and send it to our tools for analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, Firebase) and marketing purposes (e.g. Google Adwords, Facebook Pixel etc.).

Essentially Segment is a company that helps us process our customer data. We collect personal data and cookies to identify the users and pushing data to Segment to connect with other 3rd party products for analytical and marketing purposes. See here for the details.

Mass messaging


We use Mailgun to send emails to our users. We share your different types of personal data with Mailgun depending on what kind of message we send. Whenever we use the services of Mailgun the Mailgun privacy policy applies.


We use MessageBird to send text messages (SMS) to our users. We share your phone number, and SMS content. The SMS content could contain personal information to directly address you (e.g. name). Whenever we use the services of MessageBird the MessageBird privacy policy applies.


For our SecureSwap service we have partnered up with various ticket providers. We have entered into data processing agreements with those ticket providers, as to safeguard your personal data as much as possible. Refer to here for the full list of partnered ticket providers and organizers.
